Released in 2003, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is a role-playing game that takes place roughly 4,000 years before the events of the original trilogy and centers on a mysterious Jedi who traverses the galaxy while attempting to defeat Darth Malak.

Reports of a Knights of the Old Republic remake have been circulating for quite some time, and in January 2021, it was rumored that a ' mystery studio' was involved (it's worth noting the trailer confirms the remake hails from Sony Interactive Entertainment, Lucasfilm Games and Aspyr Media).
